Folder permission

Hi
i am new in cPanel.
I have joomla, I try to install component through joomla admin, after installed it working find, but when i try to upload file to new fonder in my comp[onet, it said I don't have persionsion.
I chech throug FTP clien, the new folder which just install is not owner by my account,.
How to change to my owner account?

After analysing your situation i can suggest you two methods to overcome your problem.

1 if you have shell access using ssh go to you home folder and change the ownership by following command

chown -R user.user folder

here user= give the name of the user to which you want to change the permission
folder= the name of the folder if it is inside the home directory or the path to the folder if it is inside in any folder in you home directory

2 if you have only FTP access then you wont be able to change the ownership of the folder but you can give write , read and execute permission to others by giving following command

chmod 777 foldername;

First methode. No I cannot access to my hosting by shell.
Second, I try to change CHMODE in FTP client but don't have permission.

I checked folder that just install a component, it is not my account owner, the owner folder is 99. ;-)

Hi socheat,
You can changr the permission through cpanel by following steps.
1 select the file manager in the cpanel
2 get the folder you want to change the permission.
3 select the name of the folder, then you can see many option in the right corner
4 select the option change permission from the various options listed there
5 there give the permissions you would like to give to the folder.
