Forward mails to Main Account

Hi Community,

I've read through quite a few threads regarding my problems but it seems I just don't get it right. Following situation:

I do have rented webspace which is administrated with cPanel. In the Mail manager it shows me the Main Account (username) and a new created account called spam@domain.com. spam@domain.com is also set as default adress (catch-all).

I use the Main Account and I want to have several mail adresses forward to the Main Account, i.e. name1@domain.com .... name7@domain.com. If I set up a forwarder to just username w/o the @domain.com part cPanel automatically adds the last part.

My problem now is, that all email regardless if it is sent to anyname@domain.com or name1@domain.com or even username@domain.com is send to the spam@domain.com mailbox.

So how can I use the Main Account mailbox so that I receive the mails for name1 through name7@domain.com as well ass username@domain.com?

Just make your Main Account the catch-all, instead of the spam@ account. Keep in mind that you will now receive all emails not destined for an actual account. The only other way is to alias(forward) each name that you DO want to receive to your main account.

From the cPanel for the domain in question, go to Mail --> Default Address --> Set Default Address and input your Mian Account email address. Click Save and you are done.

That's exactly what I do NOT want. On my Main Account I ONLY want the name1 through name7@domain.com to be received. Alle the rest shall go to spam@domain.com. So how can I forward a mail to my Main Account (username)? If I forward to username@domain.com it also is dropped at spam@domain.com.

Oops! A classic case of not reading the question twice to determine what is really being asked. Do not know about anyone else, but I have my catch-all (default) set to :fail: No such user here. This is discussed in great length in the forums and Chirpy has a full dissertation on why to use fail posted at his website at http://configserver.com/free/fail.html. Try changing your catch-all from spam@ to the recommended :fail: and see what happens. If it still does not work, then you may need to open a support ticket with your hosting provider as this sound like more of a problem with their mail server configuration versus your forwarding configuration.

I don't think you can do that from cpanel.
The only way to do a forward to the main account is editing /etc/valiases/domain.com.
So, if you don't have root access this will be impossible. Use main account with a default address other than main accout is not compatible, unless you can edit /etc/valiases/domain.com

thanks for that :fail:-link. I do want to set it to fail later on, but right now, I do want to receive _all_ mail for my domain due to some observation of mine.

I have access to etc/domain.com, there is no etc/valiases/ folder. Am I missing something. In etc/domain.com/ are three files: passwd, quota, shadow. Now what would be the next step?

That /etc/domain.com is inside your home domain diectory.
When I refered to the /etc/valiases/domain.com is the main server /etc directory. It can be edited by root, so you may ask your ISP to edit that, otherwise, you shoul use mail filters, forwarders and default account to achive same or similar behavior.
