Fresh Install Problems

Hey guys, I just downloaded the latest build from: http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest

I am running the latest fresh minimal install of Centos 5.2

I ran the sh latest and it was going pretty good, but after a while its been stuck on a particular part of the install.

Its output hundreds of ............ then a + every once in a while

I ssh into it from another machine on the network to look at top and this is what it has as the top 4 processes

This has been running for quite a long time now. Is it suppose to take this long?

Yes.. wait until it completes..

Yes it can take quite long depending on your server speed and network speed. If it takes more than a few hours though you may want to check further into this.

60-90 minutes is a good rule of thumb for installation time of cPanel/WHM. However, network connectivity and hardware performance do factor into how long it takes to install cPanel/WHM.

If you find that the installation is taking a few hours, definitely contact your cPanel/WHM licensing provider so they can look into this issue for you.

Rebuild a new VPS and shot the installation again. Already spent 2 hours and still not finished. Someone went through a similar situation or have an idea of what to do?

Hello, I am having the same problem to install. In a VPS (vpslink.com, CentOS 5.3, Plan-4) abort the installation of cPanel with 9 hours. Reinstall the VPS and start again the installation of cPanel, which is already more than 2 hours of execution. How long did it take to be his?

You can do a

tail -f /var/log/cpanel-install-thread0.log /var/log/cpanel-install-thread1.log

to watch what it is exactly doing.

I submitted the problem to the support staff of cPanel. I was met by 5 different analysts and unfortunately until now no one to identify what really is happening and fix the problem.

Hello my friends


After a few hours without sleep and a lot of research to identify the problem.

I started my tests demoting my VPS to a Centos 4. Then he upgraded to 7 and the update ran successfully the installation of cPanel. Again destroy my VPS and installed CentOS 5.3. Before installing the cPanel decided to update the system through yum update. After a while I realized the following error:

TypeError: unsubscriptable object

Researching the problem I discovered that there is a small bug in YUM in CentOS 5.3, see: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=3573

Then ran the command "yum clean all" to a temporary basis of limbal YUM. Then get hold of the update CentOS and ran the command again "yum clean all".

Run the installation of cPanel and this time she completed successfully. Now I am one happy user!
