ftp access problem

I created an account for my client but he could not access to his ftp account using FileZilla or something else. So, I tried several times with his id / pass too and just found it didn't work. What is the solution for this?

is it the primary account ftp or an sub-ftp account.

In case of primary use only the username to login, else use username@domain.com while logging in.
