Default FTP directory where people can upload files but then not see them?

A client of mine wants to have an FTP directory where people can upload files but then not see them so they can't do more than upload.

for this he wants to give out the FTP
    user/password
    guest/guest
    which is already set up

but to be able to get the files down he needs to have a user that has all permissions otherwise he cant see them.

    this user/password combo should be
    mastr/BPwfW
which is the main user for this account.

right now the folder guest has permissions set to 371 which gives the user write and execute permissions and the group all permissions.

now i need to find a way to give the user mastr group permissions.

Can anyone help with this or tell me a better way of getting the same result?

    Thanks

    Default

just disable READ access on the folders

this will prevent fromt being downloaded

    for example..from ROOT

    chmod 222 foldername
this will only allow the uploader writepermissions

    or

    chmod 622 foldername
this will only allow Owner to read n write and all others to write only

if you just do this from a ftp client..anyone can just chmod from there client
and they could reset the permissions..

if im wrong about this..feel free to correct me..but i belive this is correct..

The problem I see is the user set up in the control panel under FTP accounts has the same user permissions as the siteowner only restricted to this folder of course.

so if he cant see the files the siteowner will also not be able to see them.

There has to be a way of giving the two users sepparate permissions on this one folder siteowner full permissions and guestuser only write.

I will give it a try anyway and report back.

    thank you for your help

you could do an htaccess file..
chmod the htaccess file so it cant be deleted or edited..

but im also talkin from ROOT point of view..

    good luck tho..
