Google indexing domain.com/addon domain

Hello,
I have an addon domain, when the site name is searched in Google the link shows as:

http://maindomain.com/addondomain.com

I'd rather it just show http://www.addondomain.com and DO NOT want the parent domain to show.


The main domain is being used as another site as well, but the two are not connected or relevant to each other.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

Create a robots.txt file in the public_html of your main domain and write the following contents:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /addondomain.com

Another option, in addition to the robots.txt method, would be to create a redirect so that access attempts to the specific directory are redirected to the full URL of the add-on domain. A redirect could be setup via cPanel to accomplish this; via cPanel, under the Domains section, simply click on Redirects to get started.

One word of caution when using redirects, is that the 302 option could damage your domain's ranking on search engines (302 "hi-jacking"). Here's an article on it:
