Default How to do Demo Control Panel

    Hi All,

I intend to put a demo of cPanel on my website(web hosting website). But I am not sure how to go about it. Whether to create an hosting account for the purpose of demo. Or does cPanel has a demo configured already. Pls, I will greatly appreciate any insight in this direction. Thanks.

We do have an online demo that many people link to:

    http://www.cpanel.net/products/cPane...try_cp_whm.htm

If you do create a demo account on your own server, even if it is set for demo mode in WHM -> Account Functions -> Disable or Enable Demo Mode, you should research the security risks of doing so. With a public demo, anyone on the internet will have access to that account, including spammers. These forums hold a wealth of information, you just need to search for it .

The basic cPanel demo (that we can link to) offered will not work for us because we offer so many custom services including Fantastico and Chirpy's MailScanner interface, not to mention our logo in the mast-head area.

As for, "you should research the security risks of doing so" Is there any way you can give us at least a starting point for this? I've done plenty of searching around regarding this question, but to no avail. Perhaps I am just missing it, or perhaps there is so much noise that comes up when using "demo" for a search term, that this info is really hard to get at.

    Thanks for any help.

One place to start is the new documentation on the feature I mentioned:

    http://www.cpanel.net/support/docs/1..._dis_enbl.html

To search these forums, click on Search then Advanced Search, then searched for the word Demo in post titles only (default is to search entire post), that'll clear up much of the clutter.

There seem to be some interesting discussions about this over at WebHostingTalk.com. If you use their advanced search to search for the phrase cPanel Demo in post titles only, that will yield relevant results.
