Default How do I upload .gif files to cpanel?

    Hallo,

How do I upload .gif (animation) files into cpanel? i have tried to but it doesn't register as an image file it only shows it as a text file in "Type"

I have a template with Joomla 1.5 and I am currently building my site, everything is uploading as it should except for the animation.

    Thank you
    Riaan

    Default .GIFs in cPanel

    Hello,

I do apologize for you issue, and as I am not aware of there being a reason for .gifs to not work I would advise putting a ticket in via the link at the bottom of this post. Also, please let me know if you have any issues.

    Thank you,
    Matthew Curry

Uploading a properly made gif shouldn't be an issue if you're uploading it correctly. You don't mention how exactly you're uploading it. File Manager, FTP, from within your Joomla sites file manager? If either of the first two, it should work fine. If from within your Joomla, maybe not, depending on the server environment.

You might do better to ask your host to take a look instead I think,

You can upload .gif file via file manager

Just go to file manager, choose your destination folder, click on upload, choose file from your computer.

For example, you have upload test.gif under image folder, you can check directly via browser i.e. yourdomainname.com/image/test.gif

    FOUND THE PROBLEM!

I named my file in capital letters with spaces inbetween. D'oh! That's why it wouldn't upload - all files should be in lower case and should contain no spaces.

    THANK YOU!
