Considering there are quite a few forums software out there, you'll have to be alot more specificOriginally Posted by NextGen
Well i dont know nothing, about this,i bought a site knowing nothing about it...i jsut need help on how to install a forum and which one is best....
keeps telling me this
" Please ensure both the install/ and contrib/ directories are deleted "
Well, just so you know, this forum is for the support of cPanel, and not necessarily for scripts and software you plan on installing into your website.
However, the first order of business for you, is to decide which forum program to use.
There is no standard install instructions for all of them. They are all different.
Start doing a search and some investigative work.
Probably the most widely used free forum, is phpbb. (do a search for free forum software) for others
Commercial ones include Invision Board and vbulletin
You need to address such questions and issues to your web hosting provider as they are best placed (and being paid by you) to offer help.

" Please ensure both the install/ and contrib/ directories are deleted "
go to the folder that u have installed the forum and delete the folders install/ and contrib/ . this will solve the issue.
you can use the file manager to get to the directory.
in case you have installed @ http://domain.com/forum/
Open file manager at the controlpanel, the click on the folder icon of public_html then click on the folder icon of forum.
you will see a list of files in the folder. Click on the install/ . u will have a lot of choice on the RHS of the filemanager : click "delete" to delete it. do the same for contrib as well.
