Logging on for the first time... problems

I have completed a fresh install of cent and cp. When I follow the logging on for the first time instructions the box has "problem loading page" when I try to hit it with the http://<address>:2086 or https://<address>:2087.

Any ideas, did my install get screwed up perhaps?

Sounds like it is it on a VPS? If so it could have errored on a memory problem. We have had a few cPanel installs go bad in the past. Not 100% sure it is the correct thing to do, but we just reinstalled and went forward with no problems. We figured if it was unuable what would it hurt.

Actually it's on a dedicated box.
