    Default my server requires autentificacion

I have a server with cpanel makes 20 days, everything works fine, but some open relay test the result is that my server is open relay, advise me using authenticated smtp, to where I read the cpanel comes with this option turned on by default, but when I set my OE6 do not need to select the box "my server requires autentificacion", and above with another server if I pedia this mandatory. Please could tell me that I must install to my server prompted Select the check box of "my server requires autentificacion" on mail clients.

    Thank you,

    Aldo Carranza

    Default

Open relaying is when anyone can send mail to a SMTP server without any authentication and the mail gets sent. cPanel/WHM environments are not open relays.

cPanel/WHM requires authentication by default for SMTP. So you will have to use SMTP authentication in your third party email client settings.

cPanel/WHM has a feature enabled by default called POP-before-SMTP authentication. This means if you successfully authenticate via POP3, then for the next 30 minutes, your IP can establish connections to the SMTP server without requiring authentication (since you successfully authenticated via POP3).

Unfortunately, even though this is not an open relay, many automated tools do report this setup as if it was the same as an open relay.

If you want to force SMTP authentication for all connections regardless of successful POP3 authentication, go to WHM -> Service Configuration -> Service Manager and uncheck "Antirelayd" under the "tailwatchd" section.
