    Angry MYSQL5 & PHP5 update problems

    Hi, new vps, running CpanelWHM

I need to update PHP to version 5.1.6 and MySQL to version 5.0.24

In 'Tweak Settings' I selected SQL5 and saved

I then Ran 'Update Server Software'

    seemed to work.

I then clicked 'Apache Update' and selected options including 'PHP Module' and 'Version 5.1.6', 'PHP Suexec' 'SU exec module'

    Clicked 'Start Build'

It completes and everything seemed to go fine.

I even rebooted the server just to make sure.

Then I go into Cpanel (notWHM) and MySQL is reported as 4.1.21-standard like it was before
and there is no version for PHP shown

However is 'Service Status' it shows MySQL to be v 5.0.24

I've spent the last 10 hours on it and I have very little knowledge of how this all works, and I am well and truly stuck!

I need to get PHP and MySQL working properly

How can I get this to work?

PHP version is picked up from /usr/local/apache/conf/php.version . Does this fix exist on your server? Also what does mysql -V show ?

    Exclamation

    /usr/local/apache/conf/php.version shows:

    5.1.6

    mysql -V shows:

    mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.24, for unknown-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.0

Thanks for your help, any ideas what the problem is?

I have this problem also but not with PHP, just with mySQL, after 2 re-compiles as well. Strangely all of my apps (forums etc) detect it as mysql5 it's just cPanel that doesn't seem to see the change.
