Default Named service error with centos 5.2

I've installed cpanel on a fresh Centos server.
problem is, service NAMED won't start.
    After service named restart
    Stopping named: [ OK ]
    Starting named:
    Error in named configuration:
none:0: open: /etc/named.conf: file not found
    [FAILED]

After trying some other things stated here on the forum got some of the following errors.

    after running scripts/rebuildnamedconf
    /etc/named.conf and /etc/named.conf.prefixrndc are identical at /scripts/cPScript/FileUtils.pm line 263
[cPScript::FileUtils]: rcopy('/etc/named.conf', '/etc/named.conf.prefixrndc') failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
    /etc/named.conf.fixrndc and /etc/named.conf are identical at /scripts/cPScript/FileUtils.pm line 263
[cPScript::FileUtils]: rcopy('/etc/named.conf.fixrndc', '/etc/named.conf') failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
    After running /scripts/fixndc
Controls section not found, adding ...
    Adding controls clause ...
    /etc/named.conf and /etc/named.conf.prefixrndc are identical at /scripts/cPScript/FileUtils.pm line 263
[cPScript::FileUtils]: rcopy('/etc/named.conf', '/etc/named.conf.prefixrndc') failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
    /etc/named.conf.fixrndc and /etc/named.conf are identical at /scripts/cPScript/FileUtils.pm line 263
[cPScript::FileUtils]: rcopy('/etc/named.conf.fixrndc', '/etc/named.conf') failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
When installing a nameserver through the cpanel setup with function "add a entry for this nameserver" i'll get the following error
Bind reloading on myserver-1 using rndc zone: [myserver.nl] Error reloading bind on myserver: rndc: connect failed: 127.0.0.1#953: connection refused

What have i done wrong? I've tried everything i could find on this forum incl. reinstalling centos and cpanel. Problem still remains.

    Anyone got a clue?

Yes, that file exists and just to try i've chmod it to 777.
    Now the following error:

    root@server-1 [/etc]# service named restart
    Stopping named: [ OK ]
    Starting named:
    Error in named configuration:
none:0: open: /etc/named.conf: file not found
    [FAILED]

    I've commented, "#ROOTDIR=/var/named/chroot" in /etc/sysconfig/named.
And now service named will start!

    This solved my problem...
