    Unhappy Newbie question

This question is so simple I'm almost embarassed to ask it.. I've had a domain for years now, but I just moved to Registerfly and Hand in hand computing, which gives me a whole lot more space than my previous domain. They run on Cpanel, and I've never seen it before... I think I can figure out how to use it, however, I'm faced with all these default folders in the FTP program that were never explained to me. public_ftp, public_html, tmp, and www are the main ones. Now.. where do I upload my page files?! Is it alright to stick them in the main folder? If so, what's the purpose of all those sub-folders?
    Thanks in advance~

All the files that should be visible on the web should be in the public_html folder.

The www is only a simulated link to the public_html folder.

Public_ftp is only used if you allow anonymous ftp.
