    Default Newbie Question (please help)

Okay, so I'm working on actually getting my site online for the first time ever. I've made a lot of mock sites and done a lot of different tutorials and whatnot online. Mainly making my site with Dreamweaver/Flash, but one thing I never learned and am not sure how to do is upload the actual site to the domain I've bought. I've gone through trying to experiment more or less with the cPanel options. I'm trying to up a basic version of site that would only contain one picture & a Flash Movie on the side. Not sure if it should be named index.html or home.html and whether or not it matters using the cPanel software. Also, how should your images & everything be transferred over so they work for site because I obviously don't want an image on the site to link back to My Documents or whatnot. So, are you supposed to upload images/css/vids/etc in advance to site and then link them in code before you upload that file? I'm using Cute FTP for transferring...any help or links to tutorials would be very helpful.

    Thanks a ton,
    Zack

    Hi,
This forum is mainly for system admins running cpanel, not clients ( end users ). You should contact your web hosting provider for assistance. Help on cpanel can also be found at http://www.cpanel.net/support/docs/11/cpanel/

Hmm okay thanks kernow...I've gone thru that whole CP Panel Documentation and it's not helping me any so I dunno just going to keep looking for different forums/tutorials I guess.

Thanks for info though, do you know of a forum for the "clients/end users" anywhere?

Check with your web hosting provider, they may have such a forum.

If you don't know who your web hosting provider is (cPanel is not a hosting provider), this website may be able to help:

    Thanks again,
But I guess I'm still a little confused.

I signed up for my site thru webhostingpad.com but they give you a cPanel account to make your site with. And when I login using their system and come to forums on cPanel I'm here. So, I'd think there'd be many others in my exact situation using these forums.

It says the following for logging onto cPanel.
"You may access your control panel at
    http://Insert-your-IP/cpanel or
    http://Insert-your-domain.com/cpanel"

Which I've done but the video tutorials and whatnot only help so much and as far as the webhostingpad.com site there's nothing to be found. I'm just going to keep trying different things I guess and hopefully I'll eventually come across what I need.

    Thanks for continued help,
    Zack

You should probably ask them why they are linking to this forum then. They shouldn't be. Try asking here; http://www.webhostingpad.com/contact.html

As for your original question, your flash.swf and index.html for it, go in /public_html/

    Good luck!
