One file too many

I'm fairly new to this. In my public file (/public_html) I have two files with the same name, they are a word press blog that I had a designer customize.

One file has all the information and the other just has an empty cgi-bin. I'm afraid to delete it in case it takes down my custom site. I've merged the empty file under the file that seems to have all the content.

The support guy from my web host, tried to delete a file, I assume it was the empty one and it took the site down.

I think this might be causing some problems with my wordpress blog plug intabs, I can access it under two different domains.

http://domain.com/blog/wp-admin/plugins.php

and

http://domain.com/wp-admin/plugins.php

Does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on?

Any suggestions welcome.

Guessing here that you mean "two folders" not "two files"?

When in doubt, rename instead of delete. Backing up something before deleting is a good thing too.

If he deleted it, tell him to retrieve it back from his backup. If he has no backup, find a new host that backs up files before deleting them.

You should be asking questions about wordpress at the wordpress forums.
http://wordpress.org/support/

You might check your error logs in your cPanel to see what files are being called but not found. Once you know that, start looking around for the folder or files to see if you moved them to the wrong location. Worth a try while your host unpacks one of his backups.
