    Arrow Partitioning /tmp

    Hello

I was read the manual about installing the cpanel (in my case vps optimized) and i was read this:

    /tmp 1 GB (1024 MB)
    / Grow to fill disk.
Do you recomend me to do this /tmp partition?

As a new user i want some help please on how can i partition my openvz vps please.

Another one was recomend me this:

Following are recommended partition on cpanel virtual private servers

    /boot 35 Megabytes (Mb)

/usr 2048+ Mb (If you have a 60 gig drive try 4096 for /usr, 5000 if you have an 80 gig drive, etc.)

    /var 1500+ Mb

    /tmp 512+ Mb

    / 1024 Mb

    /home grow to fill disk

    swap 2x memory size
And ofcource i am confused with all these partitions and i don't know if i need them or not.

    Thanks

The first partitioning scheme comes from our Quick-Start Installation Guide and the second partitioning scheme comes from our Advanced Installation Guide. I recommend only using the second scheme if you are familiar with managing so many partitions. Otherwise, use the first partitioning scheme.

It is a good idea to have /tmp on its own partition in a shared hosting environment.

Partitioning is typically done when installing your operating system. How to create or modify your partitions will vary depending on which operating system you use. Here is a link to the CentOS manual on creating partitions. If you're using CentOS or RedHat Enterprise, you'll probably be using 'disk druid' (dd) to modify paritions:
