password protect directory failure

I have followed the video tutorial- and I've done this before in previous versions of cPanel.

We just set up a new VPS and I am trying to do it again, this time using:

cPanel Version 11.18.3-RELEASE
cPanel Build 21703

- everything appears to work just fine, I can try to visit the directory and I receive a password prompt- however, when I enter the username and password, I am not given access.

I am entering the correct credentials that I've set up for the directory. I've tried different username and password combos.

You are attempting to access a directory via your web browser that you have password protected using cPanel, correct?

Try entering the correct user credentials twice, see if that works. If so, then I can tell you how to resolve that issue.
