Red Hat 3.0 or 4.0? Wich is the better with Cpanel?

Hi people,

I have a Red hat 3.0 and i install the 2.6 kernel and i saw it is very better. I am thinking in take the next server with Red hat 4.0 + Cpanel, but Theplanet support saw me it is not so good than 3.0, but i want know what you say me.

So, wich is the better with Cpanel? Red Hat 3.0 or 4.0 ?

My boxes are all RHEL3 myself, but have worked on some RHEL4 servers with cPanel. Both work fine with it, as far as I have experienced. Just disabled SELinux in RHEL4. If you're itching for the 2.6 kernel, than just go with RHEL3 with a custom compiled kernel.

It's entirely up to you (or your server provider). RHE v3 is stable and has plenty of support life in it. RHE4 is potentially less stable (as it is younger) but the benefit is the (usually) faster 2.6 kernel and newer hardware drivers.

Well, i has compiled the 2.6.14.2 kernel with 3.0 and it is very fine. Do you think the better choise would be this? Red Hat 3 with 2.6 Kernel?

That should be fine. I'm not going to upgrade off of RHEL3 until RHEL5 comes out (and of course give that a few months to get the bugs out of it's initial release), so you should be fine for a long time, as long as you keep your custom compiled kernel and all the rest of the RHEL3 packages up to date.

The Redhat 3 with 2.6 Kernel is good choice and it will work for your without any interruptions.
