Resellers with out WHM

Hello,

I see a few hosts around that provide Reseller hosting but do it without giving them WHM access to create their own plans. In stead they just sell multiple cPanel accounts in bulk and when their Reseller sell them the billing period begins.

How is this done? is this a feature that is built in to cPanel or did they modify their cPanel?

Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, its a feature of the billing system in use. Basically, the host provides 5 accounts, which are only present in the billing system. Once you (as a reseller), hits the activate button for one of these 5 accounts, it is created in WHM.

Pretty lousy way of doing things if you ask me, not having WHM access.

We have WHM access for all our resellers at our hosting service and
I couldn't imagine not having WHM access because that would mean that
the reseller would have to send support messages to us and wait for us to
make any account adjustments instead of logging in and just doing things
themselves directly and that would "suck" for lack of a better word for
both the reseller and for us, the upstream.

However, something you should be aware of ....

I have noticed that many of these so called "hosts" that provide reseller
accounts without WHM access are actually resellers themselves and really
don't provide WHM access because they only have a single WHM login
themselves and can't setup more WHM logins. Normally you cannot setup
2nd tier resellers (a reseller of a reseller) with WHM by itself although this
can be done with some 3rd party add-ons.
