    Default rndc whm 11

    Hello,

I am new to WHM and have seen lots of webpages saying I must run rfixendc; however, the posts are from a long time ago.

I am wondering if this still is the case with a new whm instal, Do i need to run fixrndc ?

What is the best way to do that ?

    Thanks

    DD

You should only need to run fix* scripts if something is broken. Do you feel something is broken on your installation?

I've been having trouble with reverse dns. I've had the data center add the in-addr.arpa records and they seem to be correct, but there are some dns reports that say there are errors with it. Especially referring to the reverse mx records and mailserver greetings.

I have been trying to troubleshoot this work a few weeks now, and just can't seem to solve it.

    Thanks

    Yes,

Sorry so long to get back. I guess I wasn't on instant notification for this subscription.

    This report right here, http://www.dnscolos.com/free-dns-report.html

It tells me that there are not any reverse ip records defined and that my mailserver greeting is not correct. I'm on a dedicated server and the webhost says everything is set up right , but this report gets me everytime.

I noticed in my zone file that I can add some ptr settings at the bottom. Now I know that the host had to setup all the in-addr.apra records. But what do these do?

Will it help the issues that http://www.dnscolos.com/free-dns-report.html says I have.

    Thanks
