Simple website setup

I have a new dedicated server running Linux CentOS 5 and cpanel 11 from ThePlanet dedicated server company.

I have a GoDaddy website that I would like to port over to that, but probably should just forward the domain for now until I learn more.

Can someone give me a basic fundamental overview of what must be done to set up a simple website so I can understand what I'm doing not just following steps and then not knowing what I've done. Then I can research how to do specifics you can't provide me due to not having enough information.

FYI:
I believe I have done the initial WHM/Cpanel setup correctly.
I can't find anything about ftp users anywhere in the cpanel options.

If you have already set up your basic WHM/CPanel then just host your domain from WHM and then using temporary URL you can test the functionality of your scripts.

You will find FTP users option in CPanel -> FTP accounts.

Hello,

Inorder to host the website on the server.

Login to WHM-- create account and add the account for the website.

Then you can upload using the username and password which you mentioned while creating the account.

You need to upload contents to public_html folder.

After that change the nameservers at registrar end to point to your server
