Some didn't get mass message...

Is there some kind of limit to the number of messages you can send out using the mailing list feature? Some of the people got it and some did not. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, there can be limits setup in the server but there are so many places
where messages could be limited that it would be too difficult to tell you
exactly where things got cut off.

Also, you cannot be 100% certain that the messages did not send since
some users may have the messages filtered as spam or otherwise trapped
and not delivered for reasons other than what you thought.

There is also the possibility for large mail sends that the messages are
actually still being sent. It can take a good deal of time to flush a
mailing list run from the mail queues for a large bulk mail send.

I would look at your mail logs (stored in /var/log) and trace how the
messages are sent and if you received any errors or failures in sending
which could explain why some didn't get the message yet.

I would also get Chirpy's mail queue manager and mail manager to give you
a better view of what is going on with the mail being sent from your server.

You can also check your "Tweak Settings" and "Exim Configuration" in WHM
to see if you have any sending limits imposed and increase those numbers.

Thanks Spiral. Excuse my ignorance, but I know absolutely nothing about where to find /var/log, or the Tweak Settings, and I surely don't know what Exim means either. I'm VERY new at this, and it seems that it's a little more complex than it needs to be.

That being said, basically I need someone to explain it in a little more detail so I can learn where to look in the future for these settings and logs. Sorry to be a pain, but I got into this with the greatest of intentions, and now I seem to be stumbling along in the dark most of the time. A simple list of names and those names getting the email is all I really want. No responses, no replies or anything fancy like that.

Ok, one thing at a time then ...

Login to WHM and to to "Tweak Settings" under "Server Configuration"
on the menu on the left hand side of the screen.

Look for the following line under the "Mail" section:
"The maximum each domain can send out per hour (0 is unlimited)"

If you have anything other than "0" set there, then you have a limit
setup on your server and can only send out the number of messages
shown in that entry per hour. If it is not "0", I would either change
it back to "0" in your case or to a large number like "500" or so that
it does not effect your sending your mailing list.

As for figuring out from your server logs if you have any problems sending
or not (or if the problem is with the people who received your mail),
given your post above, it is clear that would be something beyond what
anyone would be easy to explain in a post if you are not familiar with
at least the basics. However, I would be willing to take a look at your
server logs myself and see if I can find out any useful information
for you regarding how your mail was sent if you would like me to do that.
If interested, contact me by private message. Otherwise, I can try to
give you tips what to look for here and that is about it.

After learning what WHM was, I next needed to find out how to get to it. (Because it's obviously not accessible from cpanel X.) I found out how to access the log-in using these instructions for initial set-up.

To access the WHM interface:

1. Type https://IP:2087 in your preferred web browser.
* IP is meant to stand for the IP address of your web server.
2. Use root as the login name in the Name field.
3. Enter the password into the Password field.
4. Click Log In.

The problem is, it doesn't work. I found out that my package doesn't support WHM. At least I'm not as inept as I thought. Thanks for your help Spiral.

Oh so you are an end user and not a server administrator?

Well that would explain a lot.

You will need to contact your hosting provider in that case and have
them do everything that I said previously!

(Incidentally, if you would like an account with WHM access I could set you up with that easy enough)
