test install on dynamic IP

i've been asked to evaluate cPanel and figure out how to write a plugin for it. Depending on the success of that, the customer will start purchasing licenses.

as a developer, I only have DSL on a dynamic PPPoE IP ...

the trial install won't let me activate .....

Q: is there any way I can get a development environment up without having a static IP? I just want to set the thing up on my local LAN.....

As cPanel is designed for commercial web hosting companies, a static IP address is required for proper functioning of our software.

i came by this topic through the search engine. hope its ok for me to add to this topic. i am in a similar situation as the topic starter.

our company is mainly a development company and we may be looking to provide web hosting solutions in the near future but as of now, we are still using a dynamic PPPOE broadband connection but would like to test (not just in terms of usage, but also in terms of installation) the software. because of that, the DEMO on your website would not be sufficient for our evaluation purposes.

while we do understand that because cPanel is meant for commercial use, it makes sense to allow only static IPs, but as users who would like to evaluate the software and do not currently have a static IP we would like to ask if there is any other alternative for installing cPanel other than binding the license to the IP. i hope u will consider providing some other type of trial that our company could evaluate.

If you do not have a static IP and cannot acquire one from your ISP, a commonly used alternative is to acquire a VPS or Dedicated server from a company that offers cPanel/WHM with their servers. You can find companies that may offer this on our website at: Partners - cPanel Inc.

If you can't even pickup a VPS account somewhere, I'd seriously reconsider the idea of becoming a web host!
