    Default URL don't work

    ok, i'm new here, and not sure if this post goes here, sorry if it ain't,

    ok, i'm trying to get my site up, i used 549host.com, and they gave me a temp URL and mine, the temp works but the real one don't, and i don't know what to do, i upload the site to the temp, do i upload to something else or what?

    Certainly not the right place to post this. Anyway....


    If you just purchased the domain it could take 48hrs for the DNS information to be updated. During this time you will not be able to access the site via yourdomain.com. Instead you will have to access it via http://x.x.x.x/~cPanel Username/

    If it still does not work after the propagation period, then your dns is either not running or misconfigured. Try running a dnsreport on your domain, that will tell you what is going on.

    i got like two weeks ago, its been over 48hrs, i did a dns test at this site
    thednsreport.com, and it keeps telling diffent things, sol serial don't match or some thing like that, now its telling me it passed

    A simple whois search will show you that your nameservers are pointing NS1.NAMERESOLVE.COM, 2, 3 and 4. Per the knowledgebase on 549host.com they should be pointing to ns1.549host.com and ns2.549host.com. Changing the nameservers are easy but varies slightly depending on who you purchased the domain through.

    um, ok, i got the domain from godaddy.com and the host is 549hosts.com

    i have no clue how to check that, i'm winging it, this is my first site ever,

    any help would help alot

    i think i got it, i did that whois search, and it said no nameservers was found, so i went to youtube and searched nameservers and it told me how to mod the name servers, and i added the name servers i got in a e-mail, it told me it takes up to 72 hrs to update, so i hope it worked, wish me luck, and thanks for all the help, i've been lost till i found this board,
