Smile Newbie Looking For FTP Settings!>

    Hi all,

Apologies for the basic question but I've been banging my head against this for a while. I think the problem is so basic that it's not documented. I can see where I need to go to in order to be able to create FTP user accounts? The documentation (FTP Accounts) is as good as useless as it pretty much says "To create a user account, add a user and enter the details".

Attached is a screenshot of my homepage.

    Version:

    cPanel 11.25.0-R44718 - WHM 11.25.0 - X 3.9
CENTOS 5.4 i686 standard on server

    Thanks in advance!

That screenshot shows WHM. This is done in cPanel.

First, you need to create a cPanel account. You cannot manage websites via WHM (the server and account management interface). Instead, you manage websites via cPanel (the website interface). You can create a cPanel account for logging into cPanel by going to Create a New Account under the Account Functions section of WHM.

Once you log into cPanel, you can click on FTP Accounts in the Files section then click on "Configure FTP Client" next to a FTP account to see the manual settings for logging in using that FTP account as well as one-click configuration for select FTP clients.

    Bob:

Your screen shot is from WHM which is the main server managing interface but does not deal much with the hosting account level.

(Take a note of the '2086' shown in your URL bar in your image)

To edit features on specific web sites, setup ftp accounts, databases, or email accounts then you would want to login to Cpanel using the login name and password of your hosting account.

(Cpanel has the same URL as WHM but is at 2082 instead of 2086)

You can also get to the Cpanel interface by clicking on the link from the "List Accounts" function in WHM though if you get into Cpanel this way you won't be able to use "add-on scripts" or phpMyAdmin from the hosting account but you will still be able to manage other functions.

Thanks so much to everyone for their patient and clear help - much appreciated.

I'm off to learn and fiddle now!
