    Default Old SQL database

I have a client that has a php forum that uses the mysql. He sent me his sql database for his forum with another hosting company and I tried to install it into cpanel. I keep getting an error because his old host was using an older version of mysql. Is there anyway to update that database to work with my newer version of mysql so that I can make his forum work again on my server??

What are the versions of MySQL being used on the old and new servers?

In what form were the databases supplied? Data dumps or the actual database files? If the former, there are things you can do. If the latter, you're possibly out of luck.
