Is it possible to only restore the databases from WHM?

One of our clients asked us to retrieve old database data which has been accidentally lost.

Too save time, I prefer to use the WHM interface to restore an account backup, but it seems to have no option to restore ONLY the database and keep the home dir intact.

Am I overlooking something? Also, I am wondering wether a homedir restore removed all new e-mails as well (since they reside in the homedir). So basically, these are the two questions:

• Is there a way to restore only the database and keep the homedir intact?
• Does restoring the homedir remove all new mail since the last backup?
• If so, is there a way to restore the homedir without overwriting the mail dir?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't find any way of doing this via WHM, however you can achieve your goal via SSH:

mysql -u user_name -p user_dbname < filename.sql
(you'll be prompted for the db user's password)

To restore a database, please do the following:

• Login to your control panel and click Backups.
• Click the Browse button next to the option which says Restore a MySQL Database.
• Select the .sql.gz file which you want restored.
• Click the Open button and click the Upload button.
