    Default RoR & cPanel without SSH

    Hi,

    Sorry if this has been answered already, but did not find answer.

    How you are supposed to deploy RoR application without SSH connection?

    I have understood it so that;

    1) Go to cPanel and create RoR application
    2) Wipe contents of the application and upload your own application in place

    3) Run migrations

    How step 3. can be done without SSH connection?

    Thanks,
    Sohvaperuna

    PS. Web hosting provider is JustHost in case it matters..

    You don't necessarily need SSH access to manager RoR apps, but it sure helps

    You can FTP the RoR apps to the empty application shell that cpanel created, then start the app from within cpanel without ever using SSH.

    How do you setup the database? When I am developing on my own application, I think I need to run some migrations scripts, which will then create the database, right?

    How can I do that without SSH?

    That depends on your application. If you're migrating an existing app, you can create the DB in cpanel and import it from phpmyadmin, then update the connection files. You can also run the commands via cron if you have scripts that have to be run.
