Cod4 1.6

Evening,

Call of Duty 1.6 is out tommorow (although its already avaliable on the NVidia website). Just wonder what needs to happen about updating the server?

I'll try to get a new package built for it soon, hopefully they just updated some files and didn't change the layout of configs, etc. Once it's built you'll need to reinstall the server for whatever users want to update (or they can uninstall/reinstall).

Did a little research and found that the Linux version is not available for 1.6 just yet.

Linux CoD4 1.6 patch is awaiting certification from Activision
Ryan recently posted to the mailing list the following message:

1.6 Linux is done, the build is in Activision's hands as of late last night. I don't know what the word is on distribution yet.

Thanks, I'll try to keep an eye on it. You'll probably find out faster than I so feel free to update me on it I hope Activision is faster with releasing the linux files than Epic is with the UT3 linux client.

For anyone who wants to update before Darren gets the cPGS ready, it is VERY easy. Stop the server. Upload (unzip) all the files in that download. Start the server.

Only problem I have found so far is the map subway doesn't like to load....but I will work on that problem.

Every time I try to apply the patch I refresh /frontend/x3/gameserv/COD4.html?n=0 and I get

Here you can start/stop the Call of Duty 4 server and make changes to the configuration.

Install Call of Duty 2 Gameserver
(Clicking this will install the game server. You must have approximately 3500MB free)

Then there is no recognition of there being a server installed..... am I missing something....

Here is what I did

I uploaded the file to cod4_0

then called unzip cod4-linux-server-1.6.zip and then selected to overwrite [A]ll...

I did the same thing with the same effect. I think an official package from cPanel would be better. Hopefully that comes soon :P

Very Odd. The only thing I did to get it to work was....

1. Stop Server
2. Unzip Files
3. Upload Files to server
4. Restart Server

You uploaded manually and it worked? I wonder why unzipping, inflating, and extracting didn't work using SSH.....

Yes I unzipped it on my desktop and upload it manually and it worked.
