    Default Command Line : CoD4

Wello, firstly like to say cPanel is a great control panel and I hope more people use it.

Anyway getting to the point, I've been using cpanel for 2 weeks now and a problem that i find is the command line. For clients this is the Advance Configuration.

This is applying to CoD4 or more games..

Now for me as the admin, this is easy, as I actually can see the entire command line and edit it. For the client however, they have to use the Advance Config. When it comes to players adding in the following extra comand to the line, +set fs_game mods/promod, this never seems to work

Now I'm new to this and i need to know where I am going wrong. In the future I do believe that there should be a Second option for the Command Line, So you can see the Entire Command Line and click Edit, so the Client can add in More.

This is something which is going to be a problem for my clients if I can't find out what wrong.

I hope you can help me

    UPDATE

Ok i'm dabaling around with the FTP and checking what all the Files are. From the looks of it the .Launchrc is how everything is the clients command line bit, how this connects to the run.command, I don't know, but the Port and IP is defaintely getting updated, I would like to know why when I fs_game mods/promod. Dunno what's going on xD

Also I have noticed when I Add things to the Command Line in the *Appended Command Line Options* that it doesn't update the run.command file, again, not a clue

For now I probs going to tell clients to use the run.command file to work their command lines for now, which of course isn't great service

I hope you Guys can help me out

    Kind Regard

There are a few ways cPGS handles custom commands. If it is simply a matter of addnig a command/flag/argument to the server, use the append command line option in WHM. If the custom command line needed is radically different than the standard for the game, you can use the unique custom command line, where you specify the entire command. This also prevents users from being able to alter the command line via editing .launchrc and other files (they can still edit config files.) Clients are not allowed to edit the command line to help prevent security issues and easily overriding limits.
If you'd like, put in a ticket with an example of the command line you want to use and a user/game/install I can set it up on so you can see what was done.

I understand this but this isn't a problem with me, it's when the User of the server, person who owns the server, wants to change the command line, there either going to have me or loose that ability, i thought the launch options would be a possible solution

cPGS treats the end users as more or less "untrusted", meaning some may try cheat the business they rent the server from, so editing the command has never been an available option. I have on my to-do list an option to allow editing the command line that the admin will have to explicitly allow for a user, but I have no ETA on this right now.

Alright heres a thought, you have it that the Port and IP and others is setup and that the User can change the port if they have a port range. Is it possible that when you setup a Server, that the fs_game can be put up, and if they don't want to have fs_game, the just delete it? If they want fs_game enabled, they just put in = whatever

    Example fs_game=mods/promod (Enabled)
    Example fs_game=Blank (Disbaled)

    Is this possible?

That might be faily easy to squeeze in. I'll be reviewing and enhancing the reseller controls soon which is right around the same area as this, I'll see if I can get something ilke that added, maybe an option for a broader scope that would make this possible without limiting it to just the fs_game launch arg.

I can probably add this to the reseller changes I'm looking into for the next release, so it may be a month or two before clients would be able to edit all of their command line variables themselves. Not a specific date, I know, but an ETA is very hard for me to give due to the nature of my ever changing work load
