Hey all,
Better late than never, I guess
After several months of support-only work, I was given the green light to get cPGS 0.5.0 done. I'm pretty sure I've remembered all the main points, but some of my original to-do list was truncated and saved for 0.5.1 since STABLE is now cP11, x and x2 are being deprecated and x3 needs to be supported asap. Since the install has changed quite a bit, some people may see it not working when they update. Hopefully it will go smoothly, however there are several changes you should be aware of.
Te biggest change is in how packages are dealt with. No longer will you have the server.123456789.tar.bz2 file, but rather a server.cpgs file. They are basically the same, but the server.cpgs file contains all the install information in special file headers rather than having to download a list of information from cpgs.cpanel.net each time a server is installed. This should help with custom server packages quite a bit. You'll need to download the new packages and can delete the old ones. In the near future I hope to write a package editor that will let you package your custom server files for cPGS via WHM. Packages for all the currently supported servers are available on http://cpgs.nework3.net/ , once the release has been tested on various machines as ok, I'll work on getting an rsync service working for all mirrors so everyone can be up to date every day.
As always, if anyone sees any problems in the update or afterwards, put in a ticket so I can verify it and get it fixed. I'm currently seeing one issue in America's Army where it's timing out at 498/499 seconds each time. If anyone can corroborate that, it would be appreciated. The new version of AA is a whopping 3GB unpacked, 2.1GB packed, so that may cause problems with any apache 1.3.x mirrors with a 2GB limit.
