    Exclamation Debugging Server Crashes

    Hello,

I'm having an issue with two of my game servers and I'm trying to figure out the cause. They both are CS:S servers running on CentOS using the latest cpGS release. The problem is that the servers randomly crash and I haven't seen any real logs that show me what the direct cause could be. How would I be able to debug this? Is there a setting in cPGS I can set to give me more detailed debug information? Perhaps in SRCDS itself? Any suggestions on how to figure out the cause? Thank you!

You could append -debug in WHM for that server install's startup command to have it create a debug log. The first thing I do when trouble shooting mysterious crashes is to remove any mods, almost always that is the cause, especially when Steam updates a game but the modules are suddenly outdated. Put in a ticket if you have problems with it without any mods and I'll be glad to take a look.

    Hey Darren,

I found out that the server isn't really crashing, it's just exiting the game server. I noticed in the server logs that randomly it will exit the game server. Here is an example of the log:
    L 08/01/2012 - 04:49:28: "Fluffy stuff<797><STEAM_0:0:15164794><CT>" disconnected (reason "Disconnect by user.")
Game will not start until both teams have players.
Dropped Fluffy stuff from server (Disconnect by user.)
    Game server has exited.
If this were an issue with an addon on plugin, wouldn't there be some sort of freeze or disruption in the cstrikesrc.log file? Seems to me that something is stopping my game servers and I'm curious to find out what could possibly do that. Any ideas?

The "Game server has exited" message is printed there by the cPGSD steward process that is the controlling terminal for the game process once the server leaves the foreground and closes it's connections to the steward for any reason.
I've seen this happen with an outdated mani admin after a game is done, it just seems to close, but there could be any number of reasons for it. If you'd like, put in a ticket with details on how to reproduce it and I'll be glad to take a look.
