Do gameservers automatically restart if/when they crash?

If a server crashes or goes down, will it automatically come back up after a minute or so?

If not, please let me know if there is a way to have gameservers start up automatically after going down.

You mind if the box, or the dedicated servers crashes? If so, yes the gameservers will restart it self.

I meant if the gameserver crashes, not the whole box

webuser00 - Yes, there is a cronjob installed to /etc/crontab along with cPGS that runs a script, /var/cpanel/cpgs/cpgs_chk , every 5 minutes to see if any of the servers that were purposefully started are still running and restart them if not.

Is this still true? I've had servers crash that don't restart. I'm hosting L4D2 servers, if that matters.


edit: Let me elaborate a little. I see the crontab entry, but it doesn't seem to be working...

The 0.7.3 release has a fix for this, there was a bug in 0.7.2 that stopped this from working. Now that cPanel 11.25.0 is released for STABLE I should be able to put out 0.7.3 soon for everyone with the fix.

I'm guessing there isn't, but I'll ask anyway... Is there a quick fix I can do? I've got an 18 man L4D2 server that is obvious unstable as h*** that I'd like to monitor.

You can update to the latest 0.7.3 pre-release if you are feeling adventurous:

# wget cpgs.cpanel.net/cPanelGS.tgz
# tar xzvf cPanelGS.tgz
# cd GameServerAddon
# ./install_auto

I'm still working out some issues with remote systems and alternate usernames with the new authentication stuff, but expect to release 0.7.3 once that has been fleshed out.
