    Default Download Package Bug?

Well I just upgraded from 5.2.? to the latest 6.5. Decided to wipe everything and start again as my version was pre multi-server

Anyway, I started downloading COD4 from the Aussie mirror (cheers Silva-hosting!) but I left the download page after about 4%.

I came back about 1.5 hours later and it still wasn't done so I SSH'd in and saw that the cpgs file in /home/gameservers/ was not changing in size at all.

Then I went to "Main >> System Health >> Show Current CPU Usage" in WHM and saw a process "cPGS Downloading something something... etc" and it was taking up about 90% CPU.

So I killed it, and as far as I can tell, it has continued downloading, as the size is now changing everytime I go back into /home/gameservers/

Any idea's as to what happened? I am not bothered, just thought there might be a bug

Hmm, it certainly sounds like something is wrong but I can't really guess the cause based on the effects alone. If you find that it's reproducible, perhaps you can open a ticket with the details so I can take a look.

A second thing I noticed, I made and installed a 16 slot COD4 server, but when I logged into cPanel for the first time, the server had 32 out of 16 slots. Possibly because a standard config file is used for each install.

Yes, there server packages all have working configs, my last addition (hopefully) to the 0.6.6 release is to ensure all servers are set to the user's defaults upon installation.

It is doing it again, right now.

    hl.cpgs stuck at 176,095,297
    hl2.cpgs stuck at 253,559,032

    Code:
Main >> System Health >> Show Current CPU Usage
    Process Manager
Click on a PID to View More Information about a process
Pid Owner Priority Cpu % Mem % Command
     26237 root 0

     96.4

     3.2 cPGSD: Downloading http://cpgs.silva-hosting.com/hl.cpgs to /home/gameservers/
     25884 root 0

     86.9

     3.2 cPGSD: Downloading http://cpgs.silva-hosting.com/hl2.cpgs to /home/gameservers/
And again there is 2 processes using way too much. One ar 96.4% and the other at 86.9%. Both using 3.2% memory.

When I clicked on one of the PID's, I got this:
    Process Manager

Process 26237 attached - interrupt to quit
    --- SIGPIPE (Broken pipe) @ 0 (0) ---
    write(2, "\27\3\1\0` \20\303}7\316\272KA\347b\27\243\261\3431\36\27m\375[0\372)H\307\n"..., 101) = -1 EPIPE (Broken pipe)
    --- SIGPIPE (Broken pipe) @ 0 (0) ---
    write(2, "\27\3\1\0` \20\303}7\316\272KA\347b\27\243\261\3431\36\27m\375[0\372)H\307\n"..., 101) = -1 EPIPE (Broken pipe)
    --- SIGPIPE (Broken pipe) @ 0 (0) ---
Well, lots of that, a HTML page with about 3mb of that, over and over again.

Now, I have killed both processes and the downloads are now resumed as thsir size is increasing again.

    Does any of this help?

A second thing I just noticed, in the "Main >> System Health >> Show Current CPU Usage" part of WHM, it shows one of my COD4 servers as currently using 15% RAM, yet the page in cPanel with all the players etc, says it is using 71.31% RAM. While the CPU is consistent for both.

I am more inclined to believe the first figure of 15.4% as I have 2GB of RAM.

    Another bug?

Another thing I just picked up on. (I should submit a ticket but its easier to post here.)

When installing both HL and TeamSpeak just then, the servers would not show up in cPanel. The HL and TeamSpeak images and table of servers showed, but they were empty.

I then started each server by going directly to the html control page, stopped them, and now they show up fine.

Could be something to look into, seems easily reproducible.

The servers not showing up after being installed the first time is fixed in 0.6.6.
The cPGSD using all that CPU trying to write to a broken pipe sounds like it's not closing the socket to the browser if it times out. I'll have to investigate that, in my tests it has always detected it and closed it ok, but it may be better to use IPC::Run for it instead.
The ram usage by the game showing 74% while 15% in WHM I'll need to look at. It's unfortunately impossible to get the exact amount of ram a process is using due to how memory is shared between apps. There are some old kernel modules that were written to try to keep track of it, but they used a lot of mem themselves and aren't being updated. The discrepancy you noted however is far too great to be within the normal skew of counting memory usage. I'm seeing 11.96% mem usage on a test cod4 server that's been running for a few weeks. Do you have a ticket in so I can look at that mem issue to see why it' showing so high ?

I have submitted one in the past with the server details, do I need to again?

Yeh, the system now deletes auth information after a certain amount of time to help negate damage from any possible compromise or whatever. I'm hoping 0.6.6 will be out tomorrow but I can probably get any fixes in from your ticket into the next release.
