hello,

I have installed Garry mod on the cPanel game service. when i try to update the game it does not start back up.
Also the screen comes on when it tells you the info and it has "-na-". I have try reinstalling,restarting,resetting and stopping the server but nothing works. If someone can tell me a fix that would be great.

Make sure that the auto-update feature is enabled and you are running cPGS 0.7.4-0.0.20 , if it still fails after that, let me know. Also keep in mind that the autoupdate is a full steam update and can take quite awhile, you'll get the n/a status placeholders while it's updating, so maybe check for the steam update on the shell with `ps uaxwwwf |grep steam` .

ok so i started it up and let it go and it shut itself off and then i started it back up and nothing happened here is the log for the server

Put in a ticket for me so I can log in and take a close look, I don't recognize anything obvious from that log snippet. It looks like a problem with the server itself but I can only guess from here, are you able to start the server manually on the shell ?

ok I have no clue i do not know the commands for it in shell

It looks like this was caused by a steam update, Valve started linking libsteam with a fairly new GLIBC not supported by many linux distros ( like Centos 5.6 ). The solution is to use older versions of some files to keep it running until the distros update their GLIBC or the Valve devs consider what they are doing and at least build it against and older GLIBC or not at all. Note that autoupdate in cPanel for these servers should be disabled for now until it can run without having to patch the files, otherwise you'll be downloading the new/broken versions of these files right before each start attempt.
The comands below are examples of how to update a garrys mod server "#0" for the "user" user:

(ssh in as root or the user if the user has shell access already)

# su user -s /bin/bash
$ cd /home/user/.gameservers/garrysmod_0/
$ ./steam -command update -game tf -dir .
$ ./steam -command update -game garrysmod -dir .
$ cd orangebox/bin
$ mv libsteam.so libsteam.so.orig
$ mv vphysics.so vphysics.so.orig
$ wget cpgs.cpanel.net/gm/libsteam.so
$ wget cpgs.cpanel.net/gm/vphysics.so

thanks for your help it works now. is there anyway so when it crashes it will come back up by itself

There should be 2 cron jobs in /etc/crontab for cPGS, one of which (the bottom one) will restart crashed servers:

* * * * * root /var/cpanel/cpgs/cpgs_cron.pl
*/5 * * * * root /var/cpanel/cpgs/cpgs_chk 2>&1 >>/var/log/cpgsd.log
