could someone please give me (idiot proof) instructions as to how to update PB on a CPGS COD4 server installation

The most thorough I could find was on the punk buster website itself.

Basically, ssh into the server as the user, go to the ~/.gameservers/cod4_0/pb/ directory and wget http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/cod4/pbsecsv.htm and http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/cod4/pbsvnew.so . If those are out of date in the official package let me know and I'll make a new updated package.

well i just installed a fresh COD4 connected to the server and it gave loads of error messages in console about punkbuster being out of date. Did a little research on the matter and found a simple command (in game only) log into rcon then in console type /pb_sv_update it worked for me and made the error messages go away so i could hand over the acc to the client. Just another way around it Thanks for the info Darren.
