Default How To Add a New Game?

Hi guys, new to the forums and am in need of a little help.

I am looking for a feature to install custom games on the cPGS mod. Or perhaps some information and steps to help me with the process of setting up a custom game? I am trying to install SWAT 4 TSS and Battlefield Bad Company. I have the discs but they are in Windows format, does this matter? Is there a process to convert them? How exactly do I go about installing custom games?

And thanks in advance to anyone who offers their time to assist me . . .

You can create custom game modules with cPGS, however the two games you want are not available to us on Linux. You can not convert the Windows binaries into Linux ones.

Regarding the Bad Company server: http://forums.cpanel.net/f41/battlef...-a-149797.html
Even though the dedicated files are supposedly leaked, I wouldn't be able to use/support then anyway (legally.)

Swat 4 has no Linux binaries that I'm aware of, so the only way to run them on Linux machines is via WINE, something that cPGS does not support yet. While technically possible to get set up, it would be very complicated. I've got a long list of basic functions I need to add to the product before spending time on support for games via WINE, which if added would be after the product leaves BETA/v1.0 .

Thanks for the reply Darren. I like how you say you don't support wine "yet". hehe And what about Age Of Empires 3, Inc (Addons - War Chiefs Etc.) Is there Linux binaries for that?

Also an idea for your next release is to support Hamachi, Tunngle, and Mumble.
Is there anyway you can update the mirrors to include the latest BF2 1.5 Patch, and push it through?

I also tried to install Killing Floor but for some reason it wont display any current maps. And when you join, its like it leaves you in some kind of lobby, like a spectator with no zombies or menu to choose a character or nothing. Do you know how to fix this? Thanks for the help and thanks for creating a great mod.

P.s. You said: "You can create custom game modules with cPGS". Can you direct me to a howto guide please?

I'm not aware of a server for AoE 3, it seems to use an oVPN setup for multiplayer games. The game is by Microsoft so the chances of a Linux server binary in the first place is pretty slim
Mumble is on my long list of stuff to add, but Hamachi and Tunngle probably won't make it in. Tunngle appears to be a Windows client VPN application and Hamachi appears to be another VPN service. cPGS isn't really the place for a VPN server due to the differences in how it works compared to game servers, but openvpn would be my first choice for vpn as it works on pretty much everything.
Put in a ticket for me regarding KF, I don't have a copy of it to log in and test with but maybe I can see something in the logs.
There is no documentation on how to create a custom game module, even the example module I include in the distribution is out of date. You have to be fairly versed in perl programming to make your own module; if so, take a look at the existing modules in /var/cpanel/cpgs/games/ to see how they are set up. I don't suggest trying to create custom modules until v1.0 when cPGS comes out of BETA and fundamental design changes won't break your custom module between each release. With that said, if you have specific questions about it, feel free to ask.
