How many ports

hey dear community,

I'm a german hosting company. I want to give gameservers to my costumers. so my qustion is how many Ports I have to give them. they all have to be different I think or not?

Different games require different numbers of ports for each instance running. Most only need 1 port, but many new games and servers (i.e. Teamspeak 3 ) require 3 or more ports. Currently you have to know ahead of time based on the server you are setting up, hopefully being somewhat familiar with how to run the server and configure it without cPGS handling all. In v0.9.2 however the entire config system will change and the individual game modules will prompt for each port needed, hopefully meaning server install failures and startups due to lack of sufficient ports will decrease.
Linux servers generally have more than 60,000 free, usable ports per IP, so you really don't need to worry about running out.

so is that enaugh when I give each costumers 5 ports or is there a game that needs more?

I don't think any of the games use more than 5 ports, even if you allowed 50 ports for each game, you could run over 1,200 games before running out of ports became an issue, and of course no servers out there will run 1200 gameservers of any game right now.
