    Question L4D and TF2 versions

    I am having a horrible time getting these 2 games to update to a newer version.
    Both of these games have autoupdate yes or no.
    Regarding left 4 dead, having this selected as yes, does not seem to do anything and the version is out of date.
    Team fortress 2 was working fine untill a few weeks ago. I think there were updates. If i config the autoupdate to yes, the server never comes back and I have to uninstall and reinstall to get it to run again, but the version is old.
    Is there any chance someone can update the mirror sites for the game files to be downloaded from and get these files to the correct version ?? Or help me understand how to update the hl and hl2 games???

    Oh, but first and formost..thanks for all the work with the cpanel and the game server plug in.. I love it!!!

    A lot of the Source based games had their binaries change in the past couple of weeks, causing mass confusion on how to get games started. If that's the only issue, you can edit , for example, /var/cpanel/cpgs/games/tf2/tf2.com and change the line:

    my $srcbin = 'srcds_i486';

    to

    my $srcbin = 'srcds_linux';

    Restart cPGSD (`/var/cpanel/cpgsd.pl` as root via ssh) and it should be OK again. If that's not the issue put in a ticket for me and I'll be glad to help. The 0.7.3 version which will be out shortly (seriously this time) will come with this fixed.

    OK I will give is a shot and if no joy, can def. wait for the next version if you say it is right around the corner.
    Darren, thank you very much for how responsive you are and all your efforts with all of this!!!
    I am on the support staff of Nuke_evolution Xtreme and I know how much time can be put into supporting forums like this and it can often be a thankless job. Your efforts and knowledge is very impressive sir!

    Thanks BigBangTheory, I do what I can ^_^
    The thanks really should go to the powers that be @cPanel that pay me to do this though, I'd never have the time otherwise hehe

    Hey Darren
    well I tried to do what you said.
    I assume you mean tf2.pm
    I looked in there and changed line 178 to read

    my $srcbin = 'srcds_linux';

    and it made no difference
    Continuing to attempt to help myself first, it seemed reasonable to take a peek inside the file called startup_options and changed the first line to

    game_exec_bin|||$home/.gameservers/tf2_$srvn/srcds_linux|||0

    but this did not make any difference either.. so I guess I better stop before I dig myself too deep into a hole.

    Any other quick suggestions, or should I just wait for the next release?
    Can you give a prediction as to how far away the next version is??? days?? weeks?? months??
    Thanks in advance

    ++++EDITED++++
    well I restarted my whole VPS with a graceful reboot and Team Fortress 2 is now running and is running the current version. I guess I am wondering should I have not changed the startup_options file?

    also .. any tips for the L4D server as per above?

    Check my sig and put in a support ticket so I can take a look, the only two places the binary name is mentioned is in the startup_options (which is ignored on some games currently) and the gamename.pm which will often override the startup_options line. It's possible the issue with L4D isn't directly related to the binary name change from Steam updates but something else.
    I'm hoping to get 0.7.3 out by Friday, I'm just trying to finish up Quake2 support, it may be early next week however depending on issues I run into.

    ah, ok so you are talking a few days or a week or 2..
    So, that is very soon..
    Don’t worry about me for now then.. your valuable time is best severed working on .73 - I can wait... what you are into is far more important..
    thanks for the response and i can put in the support ticket you have graciously invited later when you don’t have so much on your plate.

    Thanks and happy scripting
