    Default Addon Module: mod_resin

The addon module mod_resin is an alternative to Tomcat.
Due to issues with Tomcat we have also released mod_resin. They both run jsp and servlets however from what we have found mod_resin seems to be less, well touchy about system setup.
As some have noticed Tomcat will just not run correctly on all systems. We have done tests, taken 5 systems, exact same HW and software, ran the install and on 1 it will not work. We do not experience these issues (or at least up until this point have not) with mod_resin.
To add servlets/jsp to an account run:
    /scripts/addresin
    after install the addon module.

Please not tomcat and mod_resin cannot be installed at the same time and all accounts that currently have tomcat will NOT have mod_resin by default, you will need to re add them.

Mod_Resin won't start. How do I shut it down or uninstall it completely? I have uninstalled it through WHM, but it is still trying to start. What do I need to do?

    Thank you,

I have not got Resin to work either. It has to be said that the same box would not run Tomcat 5 either. But I'm no giving up yet

Zeker5, to remove Resin, I think you simply need to open the Addon Modules page again in your WHM and uncheck Resin. If your box continues to attempt restarting Resin (after the uninstall), it is likely a chkservd issue. Try:
    rm /etc/chkserv.d/resin
    service chkservd restart

    Hope this helps.

    Mod_Resin won't start
To Fix resin go in your WHM, uninstall Resin.
Then install the Tomcat AdOn an uninstall it.
Then can you install the Resin again and its work fine.

I have tried the above to replies. In /etc/chkserv.d/ there is no resin listed. I tried to install then uninstall Tomcat and then re-install Resin. With results being the same, only now I have a listing in Server Status for Tomcat as being failed also.

    Current Setup: (if this helps)
    Operating system Linux
    Kernel version 2.4.25
    Apache version 1.3.32 (Unix)
    PERL version 5.8.1
    PHP version 4.3.9
    cPanel Build 9.9.8-RELEASE 5

While installed, I removed service for Tomcat and Resin in WHM, under Service Manager. Then uninstalled them both, as apache fails with either one being installed, now that both have been installed at one time. Could it be my Apache Build config?

    Thank you,
    Zeker5

You cannot run, Mod_Resin and TomCat at the same time both services won't work.
As it says in the 'Addon Modules' for mod_resin descriptions.

have you tried typing in SSH as root:

    chkservd resin

    ?

I was using tomcat before, and it worked, but I wanted to try Resin.

I uninstalled tomcat and installed Resin. Then I added the domain with the /scripts/addresin domain.com tool.

After that I went to the website with the jsp file and it doesn't work. It asks me if I want to download the file instead of showing it.

    What can I do?

    Thank you

It seems cPanels script to uninstall tomcat is not working fine. I did not completely uninstall tomcat and it was conflicting with Resin.

    Can you check this, cPanelBilly?
