I make extensive use of mod_auth_mysql on Apache 1.3.6 and I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience using it on Apache 2.x ?
Since it has taken years for cPanel to support 2.x , I haven't really explored the issue much. All my machines are running 1.3.6 and for the most part things work just fine. I've heard that 2.x has some kind of database authorization & access control built in now, but some people claim it doesn't work well. There are also some issues compiling the module against 2.x. I may need to build a test machine and play around with this for awhile before rolling it out to my production machines, but I'm hoping someone here has already gone down this path and can possibly share their experience.
I'd also like to know if cpanel is ever going to add mod_headers and mod_auth_mysql to their "Update Apache" function. I get tired of spending all day recompiling everything on a rack full of servers whenever I have to do an apache update.
