    Default Installing subversion

I'm trying to install subversion and running into difficulties with dependencies. I'm doing

rpm -i subversion-1.4.2-1.i386.rpm and getting this:

    error: Failed dependencies:
    libapr-0.so.0 is needed by subversion-1.4.2-1
    libaprutil-0.so.0 is needed by subversion-1.4.2-1

I thought that these libraries were part of this package? I'm using RHEL 3. I also first installed the httpd RPM package that is in the subversion package directory... it didn't seem to affect my current installation.

That means you need to install apr (from your distribution or from http://apr.apache.org/ ) but only if you know what you are doing. Installing httpd from rpm will break the cPanel. In cPanel, the apache web server is compiled from sources.

Is there a way to install APR safely without affecting cPanel? Has anyone had success setting up Subversion of RHEL?

    Default Subversion

Hello heath - the best approach is to build everything you need from source. I'm not a big fan of installing source on binary distro's but it's worked alright thus far. I work for a hosting company that uses RHEL4 and cPanel/WHM (Edge version, though) and they do svn/mephisto/trac/you name it all the time. Just make backups before trying to install anything
