If Poirote is involved, I'm sure it will be great ! Consider the ever useful and ever growing features of rvskin, if his sitebuilder is as innovative and feature rich I'm sure it will be a winner. I'll be looking out for that with great interest and I'm sure many others will be too.

The biggest reason why we would not use/provide any of today's SiteBuilder's is due to the crappy HTML code they all seem to produce. Bad enough that many people are creating sites with bad code, all on their own, no need to help people produce more of them.

Perhaps one day, one of these online Web page creation scripts will get it right. Until then, though, we'll stick to doing them by hand.

I see both just fine. It may be a localized issue from your location.

We have had Site Builder CX installed since 10/1. A few keys points which brought us to go with them.

    1. Installation was a breeze. Probably took around 15 minutes or less.
    2. Integration with cPanel xskins takes about 10 seconds.
    3. They include a well thought out custom cPanel skin which is simply beautiful in its design.
    4. This site builder is designed so that any novice can use it, have a web site up in minutes, but is well suited for the advanced designer as well.
    5. 122 templates, not the best in the world, but not the worst either. Key point is that you can design your own templates for this site builder. You can also easily integrate the modules into an exciting web site. We have already added the gallery module for a customer in their existing site and again it was a breeze. Key point to this would be adding to an existing site gives you the ability to manage all modules form one point. This was a huge selling point for us.
    6. The modules all 16 of the are well designed and well thought out.
    7. SiteBuilder CX was designed for cPanel users and it really is a wonderful product.
    8. Customers have had no issues and the have had positive feed back. Resellers like as a selling point for their business.
    I think I said enough.

There is something that bothers me about it, though. For a product specially designed for cPanel, it doesn't use cPanel standard methods and features.

    1) It doesn't use WHM's Feature Manager for access control.
    2) The sitebuildercx link in x and x2 are manually added instead of using the cPanel Pro API (cells). To keep the link from disappearing after cPanel updates, you have to manually restore the sitebuildercx link in /scripts/postupcp.
    3) The sitebuildercx theme does not support cPanel Pro API addons.

Decided against cx in the end. I dont see the point in cpanel integration, you have to install it on all your servers.

In the end I set up a low spec standard linux box, installed all the neccessary rpm's and had swsofts sitebuilder up and running in about 10 minutes.

Only one installation required, all sites are uploaded via ftp and customers can edit their sites via one login point.

Plus, it looks very very nice !

    Hi,

I noticed you mentioned that you were able to get the SWoft sitebuilder installed properly.

Can I ask the steps you did to get everything installed they require?

    For example, I have

    apach 1.3.4
    Mysql 4.0.25
    Ioncube
    php 4.4.11

    But it still tells me:

    error: Failed dependencies:
    php is needed by php-ioncube-loader-1.0-rhel3.build051222.05
    Suggested resolutions:
    /var/spool/up2date/php-4.3.2-26.ent.i386.rpm
    error: Failed dependencies:
    httpd is needed by Sitebuilder-2.1.2-rhel3.build051222.05
    php >= 4.3 is needed by Sitebuilder-2.1.2-rhel3.build051222.05
    php-ioncube-loader is needed by Sitebuilder-2.1.2-rhel3.build051222.05
    php-mysql is needed by Sitebuilder-2.1.2-rhel3.build051222.05
    Suggested resolutions:
    /var/spool/up2date/httpd-2.0.46-56.ent.i386.rpm

I understand that you are not their support, but I figured if you actually got it to work mabye you had some tips?

It sounds like he bought and set up a Linux server without cPanel so that SiteBuilder can have what it expects... Apache 2, etc.

It's a mess to get SB installed on cPanel servers. I eventually paid them to install it and it took them more than a week to get in installed and working.

If you have a dedicated server that doesn't have cPanel you shouldn't have too much of a problem so long is it meets their system requrements.

Yea, it's pretty much a snap to setup on a non-cpanel box (just a plain old OS'ed box). It won't install properly on a cpanel box because of the rpm dependencies. Once it's setup (on the non-cpanel box) it's easy to publish to the cpanel box becuase it's just an FTP.

I'm sure you can with the nodeps but I'm not sure how well it will work and how much you'll have to patch by hand. From what I could tell from the doc it's really looking for a Apache 2.x server (becuase it drops it's config in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ and that does not exist in Apache 1.x.

"Anything" can be done it's just a matter of how much time and effort you want to put into it

Ahh...that makes sense. What a pain. Ok, I will just get a small dedicated box just for the sitebuilder. I was thinking of doing this anyways because I don't want to buy the "multiple server license" that they have....that way any customers that order the sitebuilder package will be setup on that server. And I just won't offer it to existing customers unless they want to move their site. I don't think many of the existing customers would want it anyway.....

    Thanks,
    Damion

Ok, so here is another question for you guys?

Would it be better to get a blank server or one with Plesk, since this already works with Plesk?

I mean with no control panel software, the accounts would have to be added manually to the httpd.conf file and etc right? Also, how could you offer mail?

What I am assuming he is doing is putting the software on one server, then installing the sites on other servers?

I would want to use the same server the software is installed on.....

The last question I have is it worth it? Do you guys sell these as their own hosting packages, for more then what you would sell a normal package for? Do you sell many of them?
