Yeah, but I never enabled or disabled MailScanner... it simply "was". And considering its part of CPanel's package, I think at least fair notice is necessary.

Okay, so anyways. I have now downgraded to 9.9.8-S6. Why is exim still being annoying? I Went to bed last night with 106 queued messages (that wouldn't be delivered). I woke up with 91. Is it like, randomly sending messages?? Because I received old message on my account, but new messages are not working. That includes sending messages to myself from different accounts, in additional to the account itself. What's going on??

Sorry to double post, but this is just weird. I reinstalled a fresh install of C72, and now its got all sorts of problems. For example, immediately following the reinstall, it sent all the old messages I had tried sending from the server. However, now it won't do anything once more... I have the spool directory set to "no".

If you're not using split_spool_directory = yes in exim.conf then you should make sure that in MailScanner.conf:

    Split Exim Spool = no
    Incoming Queue Dir = /var/spool/exim_incoming/input

Check that last one doesn't still have the /* at the end. Then remember to restart MailScanner and exim, just incase.

Thanks for the response! I checked my MailScanner.conf file, and both those are true... however, the queue directory is:

    Incoming Queue Dir = /var/spool/mqueue.in

    Is this alright? Thanks!

I guess it depends where you originally installed MailScanner from. If it's the rpm installation it may use different configuration directories to the old layer1 installation (and the one that I provide).

That directive should be set to the same as spool_directory directive in /etc/exim.conf

Default Change split_spool_directory to no, but how to I recover emails?

    Hello!

I am running the real MailScanner. I had the same problems as all of you - split_spool_directory was yes. However I reverted it to no, and eveything is fine.

Now, for the 1-2 hours that my mail files were placed in the wrong spool directories, how do I recover those e-mails? I assume that the "split_spool_directory=yes" mail files are still sitting there. How do I get these goofed-up mails to be delivered? Thanks for the help!!

Erm, the script I publish uses the "real MailScanner" too I woud guess you're using the rpm MailScanner rather than the tarball release.

Now, having insulted me, should I write a little perl script for you to sort it out?

Oh, I figured it out I tested it out, and discovered that if I moved the mail files (*.H and *.D) files to the parent directory, that they got delivered. So I wrote a script that moved all the little guys to the parent input/ directory and all was good.

p.s. no harm meant on "the real mailscanner" - they're all the real mailscanner, just pkg'd or distributed differently

I found the incoming directory for exim to be /var/spool/exim_incoming, I set the directory in MailScanner to this, and I restarted both exim and MailScanner (it was actually in /etc/MailScanner/MailScanner.conf, not /etc/MailScanner.conf, could this be a problem? =o). Still nothing. Any other suggestions? Thanks a bunch already, you've been great so far x_x

You can also send/receive the stuck emails by using WHM->Mail->Manage Mail Queue-> Attempt to Deliver all messages in Queue

It may take a few minutes (or more) to delived them if there are hundreds of them.

By the way, I had to completely disable Mailscanner and ClamAV in order to get my emails working again.

sorry, i deleted the script :|

however, u can manually do what i did, by going into each directory, typing: "mv * ..", and that should do the same effect. you'll just have to do that 50 times about :|
