VSFTPD support for cPanel - please vote!

I got tired of pure-ftpd, as it was always taking up 30% cpu usage per process. I tried out VSFTPD, which works like a charm - it takes only 0.1 - 0.3% cpu usage per process. Even downloading / uploading and browsing FTP is significantly faster. Only problem I found was that I cant login to FTP with FTP accounts created under FTP Manager.

I have opened a bugzilla ID and requested this as enchancement, please vote:

vsftpd is so great. I have it installed on 2 servers (not running cpanel). All I can say this is the best ftp daemon I ever used. Really fast - much more faster than pure-ftpd and proftpd. I am voting for this!

yeh i think that vsFTP is pro and cpanel should use it. just like many of the big companies. i have it installed and running on my server with no glitches. (however i think the server thinks its running pureftp.


anyhoo simple sotory the way i had it working was because it was on the server when i got in and after the cpanel install it just kep working neet or wat

It would be good to have this supported since currently choosing between ProFTP and PureFTP is like choosing between constipation and diarrhea!

how do you install Vsftpd and also how do you terminate pro and pureftpd from running

Yes I'd like to have vsftpd supported on cPanel servers too, as far as I care it's a bad joke it's not.
