I got tired of pure-ftpd, as it was always taking up 30% cpu usage per process. I tried out VSFTPD, which works like a charm - it takes only 0.1 - 0.3% cpu usage per process. Even downloading / uploading and browsing FTP is significantly faster. Only problem I found was that I cant login to FTP with FTP accounts created under FTP Manager.
