Default account domain name instead of hostname in email header

    Hello,

Is it possible to replace in email headers the hostname with each account's corresponding domain name?

    Thank you,
    Gyuri

The mail headers will always show the sending server's name (hostname) ...

However this has absolutely no bearing on the "From" or "Reply-To" headers
which both of course will still show the sending account's domain name
unless you have your mail misconfigured or doing something dumb
like sending mail out from the "master" mail login on the account.

    Bottom line ....

The answer to your question is "NO" but it does not really matter!

    Thanks Spiral!

    Yes, I see

I understand it may not be that important, but I have some domains on my server that I want to be totally unrelated.

Yet, if someone more technical spots the hostname in the header, they can check the other site which I would like to avoid

    Cheers,
    Giorgio

You could change your server's hostname to something generic that does not have a website connected to it. You could then also change the mail server's IP address to its own dedicated address for that domain or for all domains (search forum for instructions) to prevent someone from running a reverse IP and finding all of your domain names.

Another idea would be to run a second instance of exim with a custom modified config (this would have to be done outside of cpanel)
