Hi ! no big changes , some new feature and new rebuildspamdb . I suggest you to use beta only if you want partecipate to assp beta tests, otherwise avoid it .

I did find 2 bugs....

The assp coring mode for user panel are disabling itself, not sure if after a assp deluxe upgrade or alone through one of the running crons or something, i have enabled it many times and after few days a client contacting us saying he is not able to change the scoring mode status, so just looking again in the whm i see this is disabled.


the other bug is...if i have create a language directory and the upigrade the cpanel frontend through whm assp, for x and x2 is ok but for rvsking theme looks like it deleteing any directory in the language folder different than english, so i have to upload again the other language folder with the files.

I have looked at the ASSP wiki and I cant find any info on assp scoring mode or single message mode. Could anyone point me to some documentation? I dont really understand the benefit of scoring in this way.

All the filters except bombre, uribl and bayes are physical - they are fixed - like an invalid PTR or an invalid helo, no address here - ip in rbl etc etc etc. They are like a switch - if detected, reject the message. I like that way of working. It is efficient and precise. The content based filters are causing us some headaches...

We dont use bombre because it produces far too many false postives. Our customers often disable uribl for the same reason. We let the bayes filter learn for 1 month on each server before enabling it but it still marks A LOT of legitimate mail as spam. To me, these content based filters are just not accurate enough to use without putting in a great deal of time manually sorting spam from not spam.

Can anyone advise on a more effective way of working with these filters ? Its very difficult with 32 servers to individually manage false positives.

The main goal of scoring mode is to reduce false positive and have at the same time a good spam detection . If you have bombre running with assp scoring mode , the email will be rejected only if the total score (so only if some other filter contribute to spam) will be over 40 (default). Other documentation about assp scoring mode (and how to tweak it) can be find inside assp WHM /assp scoring mode .

If you want run assp in a "set and forget it" way ,I always suggest to use "assp scoring mode" On togheter with "spambox@" .

So your advice would be to enable all filters (except delay - I dont like that) with their default settings as installed - then set scoring mode on ?

If they dont use spam box - I guess the mail will be marked as [SPAM] ?

Can the customer disable all spam protection if they want ?

My suggestion is

- Enable all filter server wide using "assp filter config" also delaying
- activate assp scoring mode
- turn off delaying for all your clients using "assp domain config" . You do not like it , but
some client may appreciate it and turn it on if he wishes .

optional but suggested activate spambox@ so no email will be lost.

Using assp scoring mode only email with a score between 39 and 40 will be tagged spam (rare)
Over 40 rejected
Below 40 accepted
Between 39 and 40 tagged [ SPAM ]
If you click on assp scoring mode after enabling it , you can read how to tweak configure assp scoring mode.
yes , you can also allow clients to disable assp scoring mode .

Hi Radio,

Another bug...the default configuration is set to OFF in our servers, but i have transfered few accounts from another server today and all of them have assp enabled by default.

Correction...not all of them but from a total of 7 accounts transfered 2 didnt respect the default assp (Off) and show as activated.

Btw, im on scoring mode so the default that are off are scoring and delaying.

I love this product. So much easier to set up then regular ASSP, that's for sure!

Hi!

"default" works/was created for new accounts not for account transferred (was never tested/created for this) . In this case you can use ASSP DOMAIN CONFIG .

Another issue, not sure if say bug but....looks like rvskin is linking to x theme, so if you install assp only for the X3 theme and rvsking, the rvsking is not working until you install it for x.

a question....do this cron command send any email?

/usr/bin/freshclam --quiet --log-verbose --daemon-notify

I have that in cron but i have receiving no emails for the clam update.

about rvskin , I will check it and I'll report to Pairote if needed.

as I know ,freshclam sends an emal you only in case of failure , not for good updates (I could be wrong).

I disabled bayes because it hasnt learnt yet. I then enabled scoring mode but I think it re-enabled bayes!

Now it is tagging all mail as [SPAM]

Is it not possible to use scoring mode without bayes ?
