    Default ClamAV only for file checking - not exim

    I have installed clamavconnector and all is fine.

    However, I don't really wan to scan every single email that comes in or out of my servers - but the ability for users to scan their mail manually, or to scan file uploads with filemanager is useful.

    Is there a way to just take clamav out of the tests that exim performs without disabling clamav from the cpanel interfaces altogether?

    I have the following at the top of my exim.conf:

    Code:
    #!!# These options specify the Access Control Lists (ACLs) that
    #!!# are used for incoming SMTP messages - after the RCPT and DATA
    #!!# commands, respectively.

    av_scanner = clamd:/var/clamd

    acl_smtp_rcpt = check_recipient
    acl_smtp_data = check_message
    Can I just remove the av_scanner = clamd:/var/clamd line?

    Default Exim.conf

    Hello,

    You can make edits to this through WHM, but not directly. The reason behind this is it will be overwritten after you make the changes. There is a way to make your changes stay, however if you do that it will not receive updates, and you may run into other problems. That is why making changes of this nature are unsupported.

    "chatter -i /etc/exim.conf"

    Thank you,

    Thanks Matthew,

    So, if I do remove that line, can you confirm that this would indeed simply prevent exim from scanning all mail with clamav?

    Are you saying it would just be overwritten when I run upcp?

    If that's the case then I don't mind manually removing the line each time I update the servers.

    Hello,

    Yes you are correct, that would work and yes it would be removed next upcp. Hope that helps you out. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you,
