    Default configure email account

    Hi,

Cpanel gives my users the wrong information to configure their email accounts.
(email accounts menu > last option configure email client, autoconfigure for outlook client does not work proper too). This is a new cpanel install, standard strait forward, we did not mess around with settings)

    1) wrong smtp port
    2) wrong outgoing mail server

    How to correct this error.

    Phil

Sounds like your users ISPs require specific port and the ISPs outgoing details. cPanel can't control that. I'd suggest ignoring the auto config stuff and set up an account manually instead. Be sure to check your ISPs website for details on using mail.
For example Earthlink requires you to use their outgoing server, not yours.

I'd like to completely remove this feature, as it is giving wrong info for me as well.

Any idea how I can remove this 'configure' button from the e-mail accounts panel?

The only way I am readily aware of is creating a custom theme and commenting out the code for that button from the custom theme. Note, that code is embedded within an API2 call so I recommend having a familiarity with API2 syntax before editing that code to ensure it is done properly.

This is causing us problems too. Please please could we have an option to remove the Outlook auto-configure in Tweak Settings or Feature Manager.

That's already been done, just go to WHM -> cPanel -> Enable/Disable Outlook AutoConfig.

Hi, from what I've tried, the POP3 autoconfig works only for Outlook Express. The settings for Microsoft Outlook 2003 not appear to be working because of the .reg file is being writing the data in the incorrect registry branches or so.

    Any news about this issue?

Short answer: This will never be fixed and should be disabled.

    Why?

This would be a cool tool if it worked fine. It adds an interesting functionality for noob users. The registry entries to work on aren't documented anywhere?

    David:
When I disable the autoconfig option, the webmail is still showing the link to the autoconfig page and the IMAP options for Mac Mail are shown. I suppose even the icon at the webmail page should not be shown.

The same happens if you browse the email account listing from inside the control panel. The autoconfig icon shouldn't be shown.

    I'm running cPanel 11.24.4-S33345 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9

Has to do with how Outlook 2003 store passwords.

The option he suggested disables the Outlook config, not the Mac config. AFAIK, that works.

    Yep, you're right.
But then, WHM lacks of an option to 1) better manage the autoconfig page (deactivate Outlook, deactivate others as well), OR... 2) add a related entry in the Feature Manager to show this option or not. This last option seems to be the more adequate.
